To ensure that our customers process their card payments at the most favorable rates, at UniBul Merchant Services we use the interchange plus pricing structure. It works by adding the same processing costs to the various interchange rates which Visa and MasterCard use for processing all of the numerous credit and debit card types that their members issue. Every merchant processing account that we set up works this way. There is a noticeable difference between our approach and the prevalent flat-rate pricing, used by most of our competitors. Using a flat card processing rate means that, in order to avoid losing money on any transaction, your merchant account provider has to give you a rate that is higher than the highest possible interchange. Most of your transactions will be cleared at a much lower interchange, resulting in a significant overcharge for you. If your processing statement shows one rate for all credit cards and another for all debit cards, you are paying a flat rate.
