Global Merchant Services
International businesses can find it challenging to have their credit card processing needs met in a way that allows them to accommodate the payment preferences of all of their customers around the world, while at the same time keeping their payment acceptance costs down to a reasonable level. Traditional payment processors either place too many restrictions on international merchants or simply don’t have the tools to build the type of service that they need.
Well, at UniBul we specialize in servicing high-volume international businesses and have built our global merchant services around their specifications. In fact, we leave the garden-variety low-volume, low-risk types to our mainstream friends. That focus has enabled us to design a solid, reliable solution for both American-based and non-U.S. businesses, which just works. Contact us now and let us show you what we can do for you.
Once we’ve examined your information, we will get right back to you and explain exactly what it is that we can offer you and on what terms. If, as is often the case, there is more than one option available, we will break all alternatives down for you and let you choose the one you like the best. The application process is handled swiftly and the set-up is simple and straightforward. We wrap the whole process up within one to two weeks, depending on how quickly we get all the paperwork we need.
Who Do We Work With?
At UniBul, our global merchant services are available to pretty much any merchant who is properly incorporated in its country of origin and can provide all the documentation and business licenses that may be required during the underwriting review. Further below you will find a list of the paperwork we need to get started.
Your particular type of set-up will be determined during the underwriting process and will be based on several factors: previous processing volume and history, industry type, chargeback and decline ratios, geographical location, etc. For example, a U.S.-based merchant with a long track record, operating in a medium-risk industry, could be best suited for a domestic type of merchant account. On the other hand, if your chargeback ratio is a bit high and your industry falls squarely into what Visa and MasterCard would consider high-risk, we will have to take you offshore. You can see that there are many possibilities, which is why global merchant services set-ups are decided on a case-by-case basis.
To help us build the best solution for you, we ask that you tell us all about your present circumstances. Furthermore, let us know what you are hoping to ideally get from us and we will work with you to make it happen. If, for instance, you need a second global merchant services account, to be used together with the one you already have, that’s fine with us, as long as we get enough processing volume to make it worth it.
Our Application Process
In order to get the application process started, we need the following documentation:
- Global merchant services application form. You can download it here. Please fill it out thoroughly, sign and initial and email it back to us, along with the other items listed below.
- Six most recent monthly processing statements with your current or latest payment processor.
- Certificate of Incorporation or an equivalent document.
- Copy of the business owner’s government-issued ID — a passport or a driver’s license would work.
- Copy of your business operating license, if applicable.
- Copy of a voided check or, alternatively, a signed bank letter.
- Three most recent monthly bank statements.
- Copy of a recent (30 days or less) utility bill showing your address.
Depending on the underwriting requirements, we might need some other documentation later and we might also ask for some additional information. This is standard procedure for international set-ups, so please be ready to follow up on our requests and help us get through the process as swiftly as possible.
Card Brands, Currencies and Payout
Over the years, we have built a wide network of acquiring banks, located all over the world, which is what has made it possible for us to offer acceptance of all major card brands, as well as many local ones and alternative payment options. Some of the card brands we offer are seen below.

You can settle your transactions in any of the major global currencies — USD, GBP, euro — as well as in many others (please make sure you make your selection in the application form, where indicated). Here is a list of the most popular options:

Your payout schedule will be determined during the underwriting process. Our global merchant services can offer weekly payouts (usually with one week in arrears) to most industry types, although daily payouts are not at all rare for U.S.-based merchants.
What to Do if You Were Placed on the MATCH List
If your previous merchant account was terminated, you need to ask the processor who shut it down whether or not they placed you on the MATCH list (or the Terminated Merchant File [TMF], as you may know it). We will have to know this prior to initiating your application, as both the underwriting and set-up procedures are quite different from the regular type. Additionally, please don’t keep silent about the MATCH listing — it does not make it disappear and could only hurt you. The thing is that a MATCH placement inevitably comes to light at some point during the application review and if we didn’t know about it, we would have lost valuable time working on the wrong solution.
The underwriting review of a MATCH-ed merchant will usually take a bit longer than the regular type and the reason is that Visa and MasterCard require that special rules are followed. We will ask you to provide a written explanation for the reason for the MATCH placement and we may also need some other details, but other than that you will not experience anything out of the ordinary.
Once your global merchant services account is approved and set up, you can start taking payments once more, much as you did before the MATCH listing. You will have to make sure that you are operating your account in full compliance with the terms and conditions of your contract, but you would have to be doing that anyway. The acquirer will probably monitor your transactions during the first few months to keep Visa and MasterCard happy, so please make sure that everything is done properly.
